show Text fragments from the catalogue 'Rolling Snowball/3 - Guangzhou':

In her collages Gartz combines her drawings and photographs with photos of film stars and other heroes. In her latest collages the image of Bruce Lee is combined with vulnerable notes and imperfect drawings.  ‘I am looking for funny, fluent and furious combinations. To me Bruce Lee is the perfect Kung Fu fighter, the master of body and mind, a philosopher and a poet and an example of how different Eastern and Western values can be in balance with each other, a subject of major importance to my work.’’

Wineke Gartz is a multi media artist who works with video, collage, drawings and photography and is most known for her site-specific installations. Her installations consist of complex overlays of imagery and media. Her subjects relate to psychology, beauty, death, illusions and perception, nature versus urban life, art and mass media.
